The Untold Story of the Ground Zero Mosque.

From CAN:

The Investigative Project on Terrorism is raising new questions about the financial practices of the people behind the Ground Zero Islamic center and mosque project. The IPT has discovered that an organization founded by the project’s leader, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, received non-profit status by claiming it held services attended by 500 people at a building but it cannot accommodate such a number.

The counter-terrorism organization says that Imam Rauf founded the American Sufi Muslim Association in 1998 and that it held services at a 17-floor apartment building in New York City. However, the IPT says, there is no single room where large services can be held.

Daisy Khan, who was listed in the ASMA’s application for tax-exempt status as the organization’s director and is married to Imam Rauf, denies that any irregularities exist.

“I have received your enquiry, and notice that it includes inaccurate and outdated information. Unfortunately, as I’m sure you can appreciate, we are extremely busy right now and will not be able to provide you with answers by the time of your deadline,” she told the IPT.

The IPT also recently reported that the Cordoba Initiative has not declared approximately $100,000 in donations from two other organizations. The organization said some of the funds were sent to Cordoba via a group called the American Society for Muslim Advancement which is not required to disclose its donors. also reports that associates of the project’s developer, Sharif el-Gamal, are questioning how he raised the millions of dollars to buy real estate including the former Burlington Coat Factory that will be replaced by the Islamic center.

The Christian Action Network says it will soon release a documentary about the controversy titled, “Sacrificed Survivors: The Untold Story of the Ground Zero Mosque.” CAN says the film will include extensive interviews and undercover footage showing that the site for the future Islamic center is already being used as a mosque.
