Time Magazine: For Israeli Jews it's all about moneyPublished: September 8, 2010
Just in case the peace talks that kicked off in Washington last week don't work out, we'll all know whose to blame: Israel. Or, more specifically, those money hungry Jews.
Just ask Time Magazine - or, that is, read the cover story of its Sept. 13 issue, now on newsstands: "Why Israel Doesn't Care About Peace." A title that shouts out from the center of a big bright Star of David, outlined in pretty little daisies.
Written by Karl Vick, the heavily slanted article relies on the quotes of a couple of atypical Israelis to paint a damaging picture of an entire people.
"People in Israel are indifferent. They don't care if there's going to be war. They don't care if there's going to be peace. They don't care. They live in the day," concludes Vick, paying no mind to the fact that virtually every Israeli family has had at least one loved one killed or wounded in war or terrorist attacks.
Writing for the National Review Online, Victor Davis Hanson called Vick's piece "probably the most antisemitic essay I have ever read in a mainstream publication."
"Among Vick's interviewees," writes Hanson, "is Heli Itach, a modern-day Shylock who brags about the money to be made selling condos in Jerusalem" despite the Kassam rockets falling around them.Israelis, says Vick, are "otherwise engaged; they're making money; they're enjoying the rays of late summer. A watching world may still define their country by the blood feud with the Arabs whose families used to live on this land and whether that conflict can be negotiated away, but Israelis say they have moved on."

Vick, of course, finds the Jews' obsession with money most objectionable: "But wait. Deep down (you can almost hear the outside world ask), don't Israelis know that finding peace with the Palestinians is the only way to guarantee their happiness and prosperity? Well, not exactly."
Highlighting Israel's current economic boom as if it were a war crime, Vick notes examples of young Israelis enjoying the good life as proof that they do not care about either the plight of the Palestinians or peace itself.
The article pictures all Israelis enjoying the good life. After all, all Jews are rich, aren't they?
