Lebanon's prime minister has informed Hizbullah that a UN tribunal probing the 2005 murder of ex-premier Rafiq Hariri will accuse members of the Shiite party, its chief said on Thursday. "I was personally informed by Prime Minister (Saad) Hariri that the tribunal will accuse some undisciplined members" of Hizbullah, Hassan Nasrallah said in a press conference via video link.
He added that an indictment was written in 2008, and even before the investigation, for the sake of political ends.
In a speech earlier this month, Nasrallah accused Israel of interfering in the probe and slammed the tribunal's impending indictment as "fabricated."
On Thursday, Nasrallah said those who misled the investigation are the ones behind false witnesses.
Also Thursday, the Shiite leader urged Syrian President Bashar Assad to visit the Baabda Palace in Beirut "as soon as possible" in order to open a new chapter of relations between the two countries.
