Thousands of people at the rally wearing yellow scarves and caps waved Iranian flags and welcomed the Iranian president as their hero.

"He is the best president. I love Mahmoud Ahmadinejad," 21-year-old Batoul shouted in the crowded street to make herself heard. "I love him because he's humble and he's not afraid of anything," she said, looking at the tall man with the walkie talkie who stopped next to her to listen.
