Baby Hitler

TRENTON, N.J. - A New Jersey appeals court says a couple who named one of their children after Adolf Hitler should not regain custody of their three children.

Heath and Deborah Campbell's three small children were removed from their home in Philipsburg by the state in January 2009.

The family drew attention after ShopRite refused to decorate a birthday cake for their son, Adolf Hitler Campbell. Adolf and siblings JoyceLynn Aryan Nation and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie have been in foster care since then.

The appeals court ruled Thursday that sufficient evidence of abuse or neglect existed because of domestic violence in the home.

The court sent the case back to family court for further reconsideration.

A gag order remains in place and the parties refused to discuss the decision.

In January 2009, the Campbells told us Adolf Hitler Campbell is just like any other 3-year old boy.

"It's not like he's' growing up to be a killer or nothing like that," said mother Deborah Campbell.

"I went to just to get a cake... it was a circus of racism," said Heath Campbell, little Adolph's dad.

At the time Heath and Deborah Campbell acknowledge the hate behind their children's names. But say that was not their intention.

So why the names?

"This is America, they say it's free, you have the right to name your child whatever you want to name your child, no matter what," Heath Campbell said.

In response, a Shop Rite spokeswoman it was the third time the family tried to get the cake made and they never refused them, but offered to make it without the name.

The Campbells refused.

Heath Campbell has several swastika tattoos on his arms with the name Hitler written on his hand.

Campbell also wears German Nazi boots.

Heath says, "a person makes a person...a name doesn't."
