"Week of Action"

In response to the call by the Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC) (link to BNC website) for the 30th March Land Day, the PSC have called for a Boycott Divestment and Sanctions "Week of Action" from Sunday 27 March to Saturday 2 April 2011 - an opportunity for all Palestine supporters to target civil society and help inform the general public on how consumer choice can aid Israel?s occupation.

On March 30, Palestinian people scattered across the globe mark Land Day, commemorating the events of 35 years ago, when Israeli security forces shot and killed six young Palestinian citizens of Israel and injured many. These brave youth were among the thousands protesting Israel's expropriation of Palestinian land to build new Jewish colonies and expand existing Jewish cities. Today, Land Day symbolizes Palestinian resistance to Israel's ongoing land expropriation, apartheid, colonization and occupation. Read more http://bdsdayofaction.net/land-day/

General strike on Land Day

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, - The Arab higher follow up committee in 1948 occupied Palestine has declared that a general and comprehensive strike would be observed on the 35th anniversary of the Land Day.

The committee said in a statement on Saturday that the anniversary this year falls at a time of escalating Israeli violations of Arab rights topped by confiscation of land, demolition of homes, displacement of families, and endorsement of racist laws. It said that the central rally on the occasion would be held in Araba Al-Batuf village on the 30th of March.

It noted that other related rallies would be organized in Lod, Ramle, Yaffa, and Negev especially in Araqib village, in view of the Israeli concentration on those areas.

Other towns such as Sakhnin, Kufr Kana, and Wadi Ara would witness local rallies in commemoration of the anniversary and the martyrs of that day.

The committee said that the final program would be endorsed in the few coming days, adding that it would mobilize the Arab masses to participate in the strike and the
rallies.
