Dr. Greg Stanton, founder and president of Genocide Watch, and president of the International Association of Genocide Scholars, created the Eight Stages of Genocide to provide a methodical analysis to predict and thus try and prevent genocides. And hatespeech formed an integral part of the entire process, he has established. He also has found that by preventing hatespeech ? especially by leaders condemning it in public and discouraging people from using it ? also helped to prevent genocidal occurrances.
