Insanity Hypocrisy Horror

Some Turkish politicians speculate!...

The common characteristics of an assault carried out by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and an Israeli attack on a humanitarian aid convoy in international waters have raised suspicions over whether the two incidents are related.

A rocket attack by terrorists on a naval base killed seven soldiers and wounded six others in the southern province of Hatay’s İskenderun district on Monday shortly after midnight. After a couple of hours, Israeli commandoes attacked a six-ship convoy carrying hundreds of pro-Palestinian activists on an aid mission to the Gaza Strip and killed nine people and injured dozens.

Some Turkish politicians have speculated over a possible relationship between the two deadly incidents. “We don’t think the incident [İskenderun attack] was coincidental,” Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Deputy Chairman Hüseyin Çelik said, speaking to reporters at AK Party headquarters in Ankara on Monday.

“As the AK Party, we condemn the incidents strongly. Israel has torn down Gaza. They do not even let construction materials in. This will be a black mark on the history of humanity. An attack was carried out at our military unit in İskenderun. We condemn this, too. We do not think that it is a coincidence that these two attacks took place at the same time,” Çelik said.

The newly elected chairman of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, also said the similarity between the incidents is meaningful. Speaking at a press conference held at party headquarters on Monday, Kılıçdaroğlu recalled that some circles are concerned about whether the İskenderun attack is related to Israel. “We feel deeply sorry about the incident in İskenderun. We must pay attention to the killings of seven soldiers. At a time when the Israeli army continues military operations, it is meaningful that such an incident took place in Turkey,” he said.

Felicity Party (SP) leader Numan Kurtulmuş reacted harshly during a press conference held at the İstanbul branch of the party. While pointing out the timing of both incidents, Kurtulmuş said he hoped the attacks were not related to each other. “Our soldiers were attacked in Turkey. I hope it was a coincidence that Israel began to attack the ship after a brutal attack on a Turkish Naval Forces base in İskenderun. May God bless the souls of those martyrs who died in this vicious attack,” he said.

TODAY’S ZAMAN İSTANBUL

The Propaganda Buster ! ( Must read & see )

Israel defends itself.

The whole world knew Israel maintained a naval blockade of Gaza to block to flow of weapons to Hamas. Knowing this a flotilla made up of international activist, and dopes launched six boats with supplies for Gaza announcing their intention to sail through the Israeli blockade.

This flotilla leaving Turkey, was sponsored, organized by a group called “The Foundation for Human Rights and Humanitarian Relief (better know as “IHH”). This group was formed in the mid 1990’s to help Muslims in the war torn region of Bosnia in Europe.

Since then they have had links to al-Qaeda. Also the “millennium bomber,” the dope who was caught in 1999 at the U.S. Canadian border with a vehicle loaded with bombs. His intention was to cause an explosion at Los Angeles Airport on New Years Eve. He was sponsored by the IHH.

The flotilla was intercepted by the IDF (Israel Defense Force) in the Mediterranean. Five of the six boats no problem when occupied by the IDF. The sixth boat the IDF was met by violent activist / terrorist determine to create a violent encounter to the delight of the world media. This resulted in the death of 10 activists and critically wounding of IDF forces.

Rather odd how this issued within 48 hours made its way to the U.N. Security Council. While the murdering of 47 South Korean sailors by the commies in North Korea has not made it to the U.N. Security Council. North Korea’s ally the commies in China managed to block any discussion in the U.N. Security Council. While the U.S., ally to Israel made no such similar effort.

Natural Gas Source Discovered at Israeli Site

Natural Gas Source Discovered at Israeli Site

Haifa bay ( my city ! )

Several companies, including Yitzhak Tshuva’s Delek Group, announced the discovery of commercial quantities of natural gas at its Dalit-1 site in Israel.

The gas reserves are about 50 miles off the coast of the northern Israel port city of Haifa, and could potentially mark the largest natural gas find in history, according to Tshuva.

Tshuva also added that it was reasonable to assume that the quantities of natural gas found off the shores of Israel and Cyprus are massive, suggesting that the Israeli government could soon be exporting the resource to countries across the globe.

"The existing gas discoveries are adequate to supply all of Israel's needs for many years, and we are examining the possibility of exporting natural gas to other countries," said Tshuva. "Israel will be an important player in supplying natural gas."

The new two gas drilling sites, Dalit-1 and Tamar-1, are expected to start producing gas in 2012.

According to Asi Bartfield, the CEO of the Delek Group, "Independence Day is on the way... We are very pleased with the results. The chances were greater that the wells would be dry, but if in both the wells, we hit a bull's-eye and announced commercial [quantities] - then why should we be disappointed?" said Bartfeld, referring to the smaller than hoped quantities in Dalit-1.

Tshuva told Army Radio that the find could very well transform the Israeli economy.

Anti-Israel sharks sniff O's weakness

Michael Goodwin June 2, 2010

In the aftermath of the Gaza flotilla fiasco, the air is thick with nonsense. Chief among the instant myths is that Israel has created a dilemma for President Obama.

Actually, it's the other way around.

The president's appeasement policies helped to create the incident. Israel took the bait, but the trap was set in Washington.

Weakness always begets aggression, and, like clockwork, Obama's repeated signals that he is weakening America's commitment to Israel are emboldening the Jewish state's enemies. From Syria to Iran to Lebanon, from Hezbollah to Hamas and the PLO, the wolves smell blood and are trying to gauge whether they can get close enough for the kill.

And whether the United States will stop them. That they even dare hope we won't reflects the danger of Obama's demented decisions.

The huge flotilla is the latest example of the open-season mania, with the result that Israel is under international siege -- for defending itself. And, not incidentally, for defending an embargo on Gaza that Washington supports.

Obama says he wants the facts of the incident, but let's hope he also wants the truth, even if it is inconvenient to his worldview.

The first fact is that the flotilla was not really a humanitarian effort. The compassion claim was a fig leaf for the political aim of busting the 3-year-old maritime blockade, as organizers admitted last week.

They knew they would not be allowed to dock in Gaza, but still rejected Israel's offer to unload the goods in Israeli ports and, after inspection, truck them overland. At least a few of the passengers were armed.

"We're trying to break the blockade of the Gaza Strip and tell the world that Israel has no right to starve 1.5 million Palestinians," Greta Berlin, the head of an organization called Free Gaza Movement, said in typical exaggeration to a British newspaper.

Her group's boats were turned away before, but they vowed not to be stopped this time. "The previous boats were making a statement -- these boats will be making a real impact," Berlin said four days before the launch.

Israel, of course, is not exempt from criticism for what was clearly a bungled effort. Incredibly, given what they knew beforehand about the intent of the activists, its military leaders sent in only a handful of lightly armed commandos who were easy targets as they slid down ropes from helicopters.

Yet it's also fair to ask where Obama was while the problem was building. Even if he was too busy with the oil disaster in the Gulf, where was the secretary of state? It was long clear the flotilla had the potential to cause a regional ruckus, but Washington watched it unfold like a spectator.

That's strange in and of itself, because the US and Europe supported the blockade to force Hamas from power in Gaza, or force it to recognize Israel and renounce violence. They might have stopped the dangerous flotilla simply by making it clear they would support Israel's right to interdict it.

The most troubling fact of shifting allegiances is Turkey's role as sponsor of the convoy. Not so long ago, Israel and Turkey were allies, even conducting joint military exercises.

But Turkey, a member of NATO, has been moving away from Israel and the West and toward the Islamic bloc. Witness its recent, destructive foray into the Iranian nuclear game.

Instead of siding with Europe and America, ostensibly its allies, Turkey joined with Brazil to give cover for the Iranian program. Its prime minister even blasted the US, saying, "While they still have nuclear weapons, where do they get the credibility to ask other countries not to have them?"

These are the facts, and the truth. For the obvious stakes, they shouldn't present a dilemma for Obama.

He should do what any American president would -- protect our friend and ally from the predators who want to devour it.

GOP LOSERS CRASHING THE PARTY

In theory, state Republicans are holding their convention this week to nominate their candidates. In reality, they're gathering in a circular firing squad.

Beset by infighting and too many weak candidates, New York Republicans look to be on the verge of failing to seize what should be a golden year for insurgents. Voters are looking for change, and with Democrats holding all statewide elected offices, both US senators, both chambers of the Legislature and 27 of 29 House seats, some should be ripe for a fall.

But Rule No. 1 of Politics for Dummies says you can't beat somebody with nobody and, in too many key races, the GOP is putting up lackluster candidates. Not-so-slick Rick Lazio is the leading choice for governor, and Democratic Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand seem set for a coronation against largely unknown opponents.

If they suffer lopsided races at the top of the ticket, even good GOP candidates for other offices will likely be sunk, too. Yes, there is a long way to November, but it's starting to feel late already for those who hope for a viable two-party system.

Spit hits the fan for MTA

Post readers know a scam when they see one, and the report on MTA bus drivers who took an average of 64 days off after being spat upon struck a nerve. Here are some reactions that should give the crybaby drivers something to think about.

"They should be ashamed of themselves saying they were so traumatized they needed the time off," Angie wrote in an e-mail. "Tell that to our men and women at war who dodge more than spit on a daily basis. Tell that to the health-care workers who get scratched, bit and spit on, then take tests for possible diseases and go right back to work because that is their job."

Al Flaxman, an NYPD sergeant, wrote that he's often been spit on, "including twice in one week. If we had the same rules as the MTA, half the department would be off three-quarters of the year. I'm a union guy, but fair is fair and this makes all civil-service employees look bad."

Perry, noting that politicians signed off on these and other goofy giveaways, has an idea for keeping labor negotiations honest. "Since we can no longer expect the pols to negotiate with the public's best interest at hand, there needs to be someone" else at the table, a volunteer representative with the power to say no and make outrageous requests public to shame the unions and pols. It's a good idea, but too late. Most unions and pols are beyond shaming. They don't care what taxpayers think.

Maybe it's time for a subtract-vocate

I've never understood the idea behind the city Office of Public Advocate. Starting with the president and vice president, every New Yorker is represented by 14 other elected officials.

We have a mayor, a governor, three members of Congress, one in the City Council, two in the Legislature, city and state comptrollers, an attorney general and a borough president. Aren't they all supposed to be public advocates?

Dave 'ducking' the dirty work

It is absolutely fitting that lame- duck Gov. Paterson is drawing up plans for massive layoffs next year. In true Paterson fashion, they are plans for somebody else to carry out.

Show your solidarity with Gaza Flotilla victims and Palestine
To: All peace-loving people in the world

Dead: 19. Injured: 60 : This is Israel !
* Israel's killing of 19 innocents with 60 more injured must have maximal consequences
* Israel impunity is a threat to all

Even for eyes burnt witnessing human suffering, there is something shocking, something impossible, about watching Israeli soldiers, armed and in gas masks, fast-roping from helicopters onto an aid ship filled with civilians - journalists, parliamentarians, human rights activists, mothers, doctors - headed to Gaza to break the inhuman siege that keeps 1.5 million people somewhere between life and death.

The Mavi Marmara, carrying 10,000 tons of humanitarian aid, was flying a white flag: a universal symbol of non-violence. It was also flying the Turkish flag, in international waters, giving it status as a sovereign extension of Turkey. Regardless, Israel attacked. For what does Israel fight? Its existence, or the continuance of a regime of collective punishment calculated to destroy the Palestinians? Or are these the same thing? Dead: 19. Injured: 60. Who gave the order? Will NATO react to an attack on one of its members?

Simple public murder

The right to exist cannot be asserted through murder. The very acceptance of Israel into the United Nations System was - in 1948 - conditioned on the former recognising the equal rights of Arabs, in particular the right of return of Palestinians. Not only has Israel prevented the return of refugees, it took over by force and occupied in 1967 the rest of historic Palestine. From founding until now we have witnessed an unending catalogue of Israeli atrocities. By these countless atrocities, Israel has forfeited any claim to legality - it is moreover a state that refuses to join the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty or consider giving up its nuclear weapons.

Gaza is both the world's largest open-air prison and the 21st century's undeclared concentration camp. Everybody knows it. The UN knows it. The US president knows it. Tens of thousands of civil servants in countries across the world know it. The siege is a way of sealing the exits, and of slow killing. It is an atrocity on the same level as genocide. Here every man and woman has a moral duty: inaction is complicity and a betrayal of humanity. All legal rights are with those who attempt to end this situation by whatever means.

The Freedom Flotilla is such an attempt: it is a refusal of inhuman suffering. Its symbolism is more powerful than any navy. As such, it remains what it was as it embarked on its journey: a signal of the collapse of the blockade. Where earlier lone vessels tried to reach Gaza, now they go in groups. More will follow. When a thousand ships set sail, what would Israel do?

Israel on trial

Israel lost the battle for international public opinion a long time ago. None can forget the relentless strafing of a captive civilian population in Israel's last war on Gaza. Who can Israel hope to persuade now?

- We condemn the illegal, immoral and inhuman blockade on Gaza, and all who uphold it
- We condemn Israel
- We condemn Israel?s brutal attack on peace activists in international waters. We declare that 700 brave souls, from 50 nations, represent something real that Israeli propaganda cannot erase
- We mourn the 19 murdered and express hope and solidarity with the 60 injured. We demand of Israel the release of all activists detained
- We call on all international institutions - including the UN, the EU and human rights agencies and organisations - to declare themselves unequivocally on this latest Israeli atrocity and to work towards ending Israeli impunity
- We demand an international tribunal to judge all Israeli crimes, past and present. We call on the UN General Assembly to request of the International Court of Justice an advisory opinion on the legality of Israel within the United Nations System given its systematic and gross disrespect of international law and moral authority
- We support all efforts by all means to free the people of Gaza from their prison and their suffering, including sanctions and divestment against Israel, a general boycott, and the boycott ? by workers federations ? of all ships going to and from Israel
- We call upon people everywhere to express their solidarity with the dead and injured, and with Palestinians under occupation, in local expressions of outrage wherever it is deemed useful.

- We call on all associations, unions, parliaments, professionals and others to endorse this appeal and its demands. Please distribute and act upon it.

The BRussells Tribunal Committee

Please circulate this appeal widely

Rachel Corrie - The Lone Ship of the Freedom Flotilla

Hypocrisy and Insanity from all sides

Hypocrisy and Insanity from all sides

It is shameful to watch Turkey lead the chants and propaganda of the world against Israel with concern to the “peace activist” Gaza flotilla. The rhetoric from the Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu at the UN on June 1 2010, - “Another member state has committed a crime against all the values upheld since the establishment of the UN,” “Grave breach of International law,” and “It is murder conducted by a State.” These words of outrage coming from the same country that committed Genocide against the Armenian Christians, murdering between 1.5 and 2 million during World War 1. Yet even today in this “model of secular Islamic democracy” it is a crime in Turkey to even mention this event of history. This is the same country that has the nerve to lecture the world on human rights. As Walid Shoebat says “confession is the beginning of healing.” There is no confession in Turkey, unlike in Germany who have confessed their sin of the Holocaust and have made it a crime to deny the Holocaust yet in the Islamic country of Turkey it is a crime to even mention the Armenian Genocide and if any country should point this out including the United States it causes a major diplomatic embarrassment, not for Turkey but for the Dhimmi Western country.

Turkey’s government has now been taken over by the Islamist movement and hangs on as a secular country by a thread. It is only the secular Generals of the Turkish military that continue to hold on to its secular nature, but it is inevitable that this will soon change, and when it does Turkey will be a similar thorn to world peace as Iran is today but ten times worse. The latest incident is just the start of a very hostile and expert Islamist propaganda machine. Up to recently Turkey has steered clear of championing the Palestinian cause but now has jumped in to the fray with both feet. By using the Palestinian cause, the objective is clear; to capture the hearts and minds of the Arab street, take the lead in the Muslim world by rejuvenating the dream of a restored Caliphate with the usual Islamic dogma of the destruction of world Jewry, Israel and taking over the world. The cat is now out of the bag but the world is oblivious to the obvious.

What does the leader of the Jewish Anti Defamation League Abe Foxman, the so-called champion of peace and tolerance have to say about Turkey and the Armenian genocide? Nothing! Not only does he have nothing to say but advocated the U.S. Congress to take a neutral stand and not condemn Turkey. What a disgraceful, shameful and cowardly position from the usual bunch of useful idiots that call themselves leaders of the Jewish community. The only redeeming feature is that many of his underlings at the ADL showed their disgust and resigned.

It is also shocking to see in the Israeli media and their misguided assessment over the 182 million dollar contract to supply drones (unmanned military aircraft) to Turkey. The concern was not that it should be cancelled but that they were celebrating that it would not be affected based on the Gaza Flotilla incident, Wow! Of course it won’t be affected, the Islamic mindset says ‘this will be the means to help destroy Israel down the road, why not take the weapons from Israel.’ Did the Jews not dig their own graves in the forests of Poland and Russia before the Nazis shot them; a few years before the death camps were able to murder them more efficiently? The many recent diplomatic rejections of Israel by Turkey as well as this latest propaganda ploy to champion the Palestinian cause should be a wake up call to understand the new Islamist regime of Turkey is now an existential threat to Israel.
The Israeli government needs to cancel all its military contracts as well as cut
its military dealings with Turkey immediately. This policy of doing business with Turkey based on the old regime in Ankara is very misguided and tantamount to doing business with Nazi Germany.

The biggest tragedy of this Gaza Flotilla incident was the failure of the IDF’s leadership in using bad military strategy and tactics, which led to them having to use deadly force against the Islamists who if we are honest have no concern for human life. The IDF’s failure to bring about a non-violent close to the attempted break of the Gaza blockade has handed a huge PR victory to the Islamists.

As for the US administration’s policies and its weakness; this has also been a contributing factor to this incident, in that the Islamic world senses that the US is not as supportive of Israel and smells blood. The incident is just another test to see if America will abandon its ally or not. We will see if the Obama administration will lean to the thinking of its radical left base or towards the traditional and righteous support of its number one ally in the Middle East.

WTF Akyol thinks HE is ?...

Who the hell does Israel think she is?

MUSTAFA AKYOL

Two days ago, Israeli forces attacked a humanitarian aid flotilla in international waters. The whole purpose of the activists on the raided Turkish ship, the Mavi Marmara, and several others around it, were to bring aid and supplies, including playgrounds for children, to Gaza. They paid the price by being the targets of Israeli machine guns.

At least 10 unarmed civilians, most of whom are Turks, were killed. Dozens of others were injured.

There is no need to mince words in the face of this atrocity: Israel has committed piracy, barbarism and state terrorism.

Beyond doing all these shamelessly, Israeli spokesmen have also lied shamelessly. One of them, Deputy Foreign Minister Daniel Ayalon, was doing exactly that when he portrayed the ship, and the whole aid flotilla, as full of people “well-known for their ties with global Jihad, Al-Qaeda and Hamas.”

Damned lies

In fact, the 600 or so activists in the flotilla were a diverse group from 32 countries and many faiths. They included Christian priests and secular humanists. They included Mairead Corrigan-Maguire, the 85-year-old Nobel peace laureate from North Ireland, and Hedy Epstein, a Holocaust survivor. They included children, including a 1-year-old.

Ayalon was also lying when he said, “we found weapons that were prepared in advance and used against our forces.” The Turkish authorities had checked the ships thoroughly before their departure, and there were simply no firearms on board. The only “weapons” that can be spoken of were the wooden or metal sticks that some of the activists had in their hands, apparently taken from the chairs or other ordinary materials on the vessels.

Yesterday, Israel released the photos of some other “weapons” on board, which were just knives taken from the ship’s kitchen.

The video footage we have seen on TV actually gives a sense of what happened: Israeli commandos raided the ships at dawn, sliding down from helicopters via ropes with machine guns in their hands. Some of the activists on board took this as an assault on their ship, which was, to repeat, in international, not Israeli, waters. (How could they take it otherwise?) Then they tried to resist the commandos with the sticks in their hands. The soldiers, in return, fired on the activists, killing at least 10 people and injuring dozens.

From the Israeli point of view, everything is perfectly fine here: They have a policy of blockading Gaza, and those who defy it have to face the consequences.

The question is why in the world do people have to obey Israel’s dictates and recognize its inhumane blockade on Gaza?

Who the hell is Israel, in other words, to force 1.5 million people to live in an open-air prison for years?

The answer from Israel is that “Hamas fires rockets from Gaza.” Well, the last time those rockets were flying in the air, Israel was also firing rockets (and phosphorus bombs) into Gaza, killing a hundred times more civilians than Hamas did. According to a United Nations report, the actions of both sides equally amounted to war crimes.

So, if the war crimes on the Palestinian side legitimize a collective punishment of the Palestinian people, should the war crimes on the Israeli side legitimize a collective punishment of the Israeli people?

In other words, should we put a blockade on Israel as well, so that it won’t be able to kill more children in Gaza? And should we attack the civilian ships that aim to violate that blockade?

Right or might?

There is even a more fundamental question here, relating to the elephant in the Middle Eastern room: Who the hell is Israel to occupy the West Bank and East Jerusalem since 1967, and to systematically steal these territories by building illegal settlements?

And how can she expect the Palestinians, and other nations like us, the Turks, to bow down to this unabashed theft of land?

When I asked that question to an Israeli hawk some years ago, I received a very revealing response: “Might,” he said, “makes right.”

Well, that might be a popular belief in Tel Aviv and Occupied Jerusalem, but not here in Istanbul. In fact our creed tells us that the exact opposite is true: Right, sooner or later, makes might.

The hundreds of heroes who sailed to Gaza last weekend had this faith in their hearts. Here in Turkey, 70 million more stand by them. We mourn for our fallen, but also know that they did not die in vain. Their sacrifice unveiled to the world not just the suffering of the innocents in the Gaza ghetto, but also the brutality of the rogue state that imposes it.

Read my lips: This spirit is really not going to die. We Turks will continue to stand for what is right, regardless of Israel’s might. None of her lobbying, bullying or killing is going to change that.

AKYOL:
"The hundreds of heroes who sailed to Gaza last weekend had this faith in their hearts. Here in Turkey, 70 million more stand by them." Mr. Akyol, I guess you do not read the comments sent online by ordinary Turkish citizens on newspapers such as Hurriyet and Milliyet. The silent majority in the country thinks that Erdogan is seeking for trouble in the Middle East, which is HIS TROUBLE AND NOT TURKEY'S. You, the trouble-seeker Islamists are about 10-15% of Turkey's population. As a Turk, just like many milllions of Turks like me, do not stand by your "heros". To me, they are simply provocators.

Flotilla - Legal Background

Sent: Wednesday, June 02, 2010 8:15 AM
Subject: FW: The Gaza Flotilla and the Maritime Blockade of Gaza

For your blog, Alex!

Aba

The Gaza Flotilla and the Maritime Blockade of Gaza

Legal Background - 31 May 2010

1. A maritime blockade is in effect off the coast of Gaza. Such blockade has been imposed, as Israel is currently in a state of armed conflict with the Hamas regime that controls Gaza, which has repeatedly bombed civilian targets in Israel with weapons that have been smuggled into Gaza via the sea.

2. Maritime blockades are a legitimate and recognized measure under international law that may be implemented as part of an armed conflict at sea. (Examples: USA blockaded Cuba, UK blockaded The Falklands, the EU blockaded Yugoslavia)

3. A blockade may be imposed at sea, including in international waters, so long as it does not bar access to the ports and coasts of neutral States.

4. The naval manuals of several western countries, including the US and England recognize the maritime blockade as an effective naval measure and set forth the various criteria that make a blockade valid, including the requirement of give due notice of the existence of the blockade.

5. In this vein, it should be noted that Israel publicized the existence of the blockade and the precise coordinates of such by means of the accepted international professional maritime channels. Israel also provided appropriate notification to the affected governments and to the organizers of the Gaza protest flotilla. Moreover, in real time, the ships participating in the protest flotilla were warned repeatedly that a maritime blockade is in effect.

6. Here, it should be noted that under customary law, knowledge of the blockade may be presumed once a blockade has been declared and appropriate notification has been granted, as above.

7. Under international maritime law, when a maritime blockade is in effect, no boats can enter the blockaded area. That includes both civilian and enemy vessels.

8. A State may take action to enforce a blockade. Any vessel that violates or attempts to violate a maritime blockade may be captured or even attacked under international law. The US Commander's Handbook on the Law of Naval Operations sets forth that a vessel is considered to be in attempt to breach a blockade from the time the vessel leaves its port with the intention of evading the blockade.

9. Here we should note that the protesters indicated their clear intention to violate the blockade by means of written and oral statements. Moreover, the route of these vessels indicated their clear intention to violate the blockade in violation of international law.

10. Given the protesters explicit intention to violate the naval blockade, Israel exercised its right under international law to enforce the blockade. It should be noted that prior to undertaking enforcement measures, explicit warnings were relayed directly to the captains of the vessels, expressing Israel's intent to exercise its right to enforce the blockade.

11. Israel had attempted to take control of the vessels participating in the flotilla by peaceful means and in an orderly fashion in order to enforce the blockade. Given the large number of vessels participating in the flotilla, an operational decision was made to undertake measures to enforce the blockade a certain distance from the area of the blockade.
